How we handle your personal data — GDPR compliant.
This page sets out how Au Petit Bonheur collects, uses and protects your personal data, in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — Regulation EU 2016/679) and the French Loi Informatique et Libertés.
Data controller
The data controller is Mr Frédéric Herbin, operating Au Petit Bonheur as a non-professional furnished rental activity.

Data collected and legal basis
Contact form
When you contact us via the website's contact form, we collect: name, email address, phone number, message content.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f GDPR) — responding to your inquiry.
Booking form
When you make a booking inquiry, in addition to the above we collect: arrival and departure dates, chosen accommodation, number of guests, country of residence.
Legal basis: pre-contractual measures (Article 6.1.b GDPR) — preparing the rental contract you have requested.
Analytics
We log basic visit information on our own server: daily-salted IP hash (anonymous and irreversible), simplified user-agent (browser family, device class), page visited, referrer. No cookie, no third-party tracker, no profiling.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f GDPR) — measuring traffic to improve the website. The processing is configured so that no data can be linked to an identified or identifiable person, in line with the CNIL exemption for anonymised analytics.
Retention periods
- Contact inquiries that did not lead to a booking: 3 years after the last exchange.
- Bookings: 5 years after the end of the stay, to comply with accounting and tax obligations.
- Analytics logs: 13 months maximum, then automatically deleted.
Recipients
Your data is used internally only, by Frédéric and Martine Herbin, for the purposes described above. We do not sell, rent or share your data with any third party for commercial purposes.
The data is stored in France, on the servers of our host LWS — Ligne Web Services (Paris).
Cookies
The website uses only strictly functional cookies, necessary for the proper operation of the site (in particular, remembering your language preference). No advertising cookie, no third-party tracking cookie, no social-network cookie is deposited on your device. As such, no consent banner is required under the GDPR and the French ePrivacy rules.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have, at any time and free of charge, the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): have your data deleted, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Right to portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to object: object to the processing of your data on grounds relating to your situation.
- Right to restriction: request that we temporarily stop processing your data.
To exercise any of these rights, simply send an email to martine@giteaupetitbonheur.fr, accompanied by proof of identity (so we are sure we are sending data to the right person). We will reply within one month of receiving your request.
Complaint to the CNIL
If, after contacting us, you feel that your data protection rights have not been respected, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL:
